A one-day Masterclass with 4-time Emmy Award winning Interaction Design pioneer -  Dale Herigstad.

Originally developed exclusively for User Experience designers and producers in-house at the BBC,  this 4-hour survey of the Principles and Practices of Interaction Design (using Apple Keynote) is a unique opportunity to spend a full day learning from one of the world’s leading Interaction Designers. With practical, how-to, hands-on training, this masterclass will teach you how to think and design for tomorrow’s world – today.

WHAT YOU WILL LEARN:

• Principles and processes of Interaction Design from a 4-time Emmy Award winning pioneer

• How to think in terms of designing for 'Now', and designing for 'Next'

• How to incorporate the logic of 'gesture', ‘motion' and augmented reality (AR) into design

• The ‘art’ of rapid visual prototyping

• How to greatly reduce time and development costs of visual prototyping (and impress your team and clients!)

• How to design for a 'post-screen' world

MASTERCLASS CONTENT:

1.0 FUTURE FACING INTERACTION DESIGN

1.1 A New Viewpoint For Interaction Design

1.2 Sketching Design and Motion

1.3 Contextual Examples

An introduction to a new way of thinking about interaction design. Part One looks at future facing interaction design where interfaces are dynamic and in motion, where interaction must relate to gesture, and reality combines with augmented and immersive experiences.  Learn the principles of designing for a post-screen world. Explore the concept of sketching and learn tools to help you ‘stay above the details’ and concentrate on the bigger and more profound ideas of interaction.

2.0  VISUAL PROTOTYPING: USING TRANSITIONS (MAGIC MOVE)

2.1 Overview of the Two Methods of Animation in Keynote

2.2 Animating Transitions (Magic Move)

In User Experiences across digital platforms the animation occurs in transitions.  This session gives you an overview of the two methods for animation in Keynote, and then takes a deep-dive and shows you how to get the most out of Magic Move - an elegant, simple and efficient tool that delivers powerful results.

3. VISUAL PROTOTYPING: MORE COMPLEX, BESPOKE, ANIMATIONS (ACTIONS)

3.1  Sketching Motion (Actions)

3.2 Design Tools

Diving further into Keynote you will learn how to create complex, bespoke animations using the Actions tool.  Keynote also enables you to design your assets within the program.  In this session you will learn ‘Insider Tips’ on how to use these handy basic design creation tools, as well as how to work in tandem with Adobe software.

4.0 HOW TO SHOWCASE AND SHARE YOUR IDEAS

4.1 Addressing Outputting Possibilities

4.2 In Conversation: Dale Herigstad + Senior Interaction Designers from BSkyB, USTWO Studios and Accenture Give You Their Insider Tips On What To Do Next

Dale will share his experience in the complicated world of exporting your ideas from Keynote, and show how best to deliver and present these ideas to others.  Keynote provides a variety of options, depending upon your needs.

You can then grab a well-deserved drink and sit back and listen to a conversation amongst fellow senior UX Designers, exploring how to take your learnings from Dale’s Masterclass and effect immediate change in your company workflow.

The Masterclass will be presented in four 1.5 hour blocks with breaks between them and ample time for substantial Q&A.

Attendees should bring their Macbook with the latest version of Keynote here.
