This 2-day seminar is designed to assist companies that import commercial shipments into the United States to better understand their obligations to take reasonable care in conducting business with U.S. Customs and Border Protection and other government agencies. The Customs Modernization Act has placed responsibility on the importer for proper entry, classification, valuation, and marking of imported merchandise. Failure to comply can result in penalties and fines, and in some cases both civil and/or criminal penalties. In addition, failure to comply with proper recordkeeping can result in other penalties.
This seminar will help companies in understanding the General Rules of Interpretation to classify their products to determine admissibility and proper duties, taxes, or other fees. The regulations covering the methods of valuation of merchandise are covered so goods can be entered under the correct amount with proper additions or deductions. plus many more topics as listed in the agenda.
The seminar is also a good review course for those individuals studying to take the U.S. Customs Border Protection Broker's Exam and also a refresher course for those already licensed as Customhouse brokers.
